Are you looking to protect you new vehicles finish from being eaten away (along with the resale value) by sand and road debris? Thinking that paint protection film, aka a clear bra is the way to go? You are on the right track! Thinking that they might be too expensive? No not really. When you factor in the increase in resale value when it is time to trade or sell your vehicle, you might find that the increase in value more than offsets the initial cost of having paint protection film professionally installed! Imagine that, a modification to your vehicle that you might actually make money on! All while enjoying owning a vehicle that can still look new and not all sandblasted - with original paint!
The following examples were taken from the NADA website researching the trade in values of three typical candidates for paint protection installation. Each are three year old vehicles (2012's in 2015) in 75093. In real world terms two similar vehicles in otherwise well cared for conditions would appraise as follows, one with a Level 3 Extended Coverage Paint Protection Package would likely be rated as an Average Trade, and one with out and with the associated paint chips would be rated as a Rough Trade. Most used car managers put a lot of weight on the condition of the paint as they are unlikely to want to repaint the vehicle. (In reality dealers rarely appraise a vehicle as a Clean Trade, unless they are charging a premium on the new vehicle you are trading for).
Lets say you were in the market for a late model used vehicle and found two different sellers with the same exact vehicle. Both the same year, make, model, color, options, etc. Vehicle A had a full paint protection package protecting the paint at the front of the vehicle, and Vehicle B was without paint protection and with the corresponding chips in the paint. Which would you want? Which would be worth more? Which would sell first? Which would be easier to sell? Vehicle A - the one with paint protection of course! Investing some money now will make things easier and likely less costly in the long run! To say nothing of the fact that you wont have to drive around a car with a million chips, and a monthly payment.
